Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula: where R is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a methyl or nitro group and A- is an equivalent of an anion of an acid; and the preparation thereof by reacting a secondary amine, containing the two groups other than the N-methyl groups, with an excess of a suitable reactive methyl derivative, or by reacting a tertiary amine, containing any three of the four groups required, with a slight excess of a reactive derivative of the fourth group; followed, if desired, by anion exchange. The products have anthelmintic properties. 1-Phenoxy-, 1-o-methylphenoxy- and 1-o-chlorophenoxy- 2-(21-thenylamino)- ethane are prepared by treating 1-phenoxy-, 1-o-methyl-phenoxy- and 1-o-chlorophenoxy- 2-bromo-ethane respectively with 2-thenylamine. N-methyl-N-2-phenoxyethyl-N-21-thenylamine is prepared by treating 1-phenoxy-2-bromo-ethane with N-methyl-N-2-thenylamine. 1-o-Chlorophenoxy-2-dimethylaminoethane is prepared by treating 1-o-chlorophenoxy-2-bromo-ethane with dimethyl-amine. 1-Bromo-2-o-fluorophenoxy-ethane is prepared by treating ethylene dibromide with o-fluorophenol. 1-Dimethylamino-2-o-fluoro- and -nitrophenoxy-ethane are prepared by treating 1-bromo-2-o-fluoro- or -nitro-phenoxy-ethane with dimethylamine.
