Abstract

864,630. Woodworking. WST PATENTER A.B. April 20, 1959 [April 22, 1958], No. 13460/59. Class 145. In a machine in which a tool 2 is guided to cut a recess 13 in a workpiece 14 by a guide roller 8 moving in a recess 15 in a templet 9, a second templet 10 having a recess 17 smaller than the recess 15 is displaceably secured to the templet 9 and, when the guide roller reaches direction-changing points, the roller moves the second templet to actuate limit switches 6, 6a, the switches controlling magnetic valves for the air supply to rams 4 and 5 by which a support 3 carrying the tool and roller is movable in two mutually-perpendicular directions. The second templet is pressed against the templet 9 by spring holders 16 and is adjustable in two directions by eccentric pins 12. In rest position, the ram 4 is acting upwards and the ram 5 towards the right. When the current is switched on, an impulse is given through the switch 6 to supply air to move the ram piston and support 3 to the left. When position II is reached, the second templet 10 is moved to the left as far as permitted by the templet 9 and the switch 6 is actuated so that ram 5 moves the support to the right and current is supplied to the switch 6a to 'cause the ram 4 to tend to pull the support downward. The downward movement is prevented by the roller 8, in the narrow portion of the recess 17, until the roller can move down the broader portion of the recess to position III where it continues to the right until, in position IV, it moves the second templet to the right. The switch 6 is then released, the current switched off and the roller 8 returned upwards by the ram 4 to its original position.
