864,587. Measuring temperature electrically. WAYNE KERR LABORATORIES Ltd., and FLETCHER, K. A. Nov. 6, 1959 [Nov. 25, 1958], No. 37959/58. Class 40 (1). Temperature measuring apparatus comprises an element 10 of material with a negative coefficient of resistance change with temperature and of which the temperature / resistance relationship is approximately expressed by the formula where T is the temperature, R is the resistance of the element and K is a constant, which element is connected in series with a resistor 12 of magnitude K across a voltage supply source 11 in a bridge circuit comprising further impedances 13 and 14 and a current measuring indicator 15. The impedances 13 and 14 are conveniently resistors and have resistances which are small compared with R and K. A resistor 16 and rectifier 17 connected across the indicator 15 provide a linear relationship between the current indicated and the temperature of the element 10. The element 10 may be made of thermistor material, e.g. a combination of oxides of nickel, manganese and cobalt.
