Abstract

1518594 Measuring temperature SIEMENS AG 23 April 1976 [2 May 1975] 16718/76 Heading G1N A temperature-measuring apparatus comprises a pair of thermocouple junctions 5, 6, the junction 5 comprising the temperature measuring junction and the junction 6 the reference junction and a temperature-dependent resistance 7 for compensating for temperature variation of the reference junction 6 connected in series with the junctions 5, 6 and being arranged in use to be at the same temperature as the reference junction 6. Current is supplied to the resistance 7 by combined input and output circuitry 2 via a pair of preferably copper lines 3. The combined input and output circuitry 2 comprises three resistances 10, 11, 12 of a bridge, the thermocouple 5, 6 and resistance 7 assembly forming the fourth resistance thereof. One diagonal of the bridge is connected with a voltage UK and the reading of the voltage which varies as the temperature of the thermocouple junction 5 is taken across the other diagonal of the bridge on a meter 13. A permanent record may be provided. A linearizing circuit 14 may be provided across the resistance 7 if the latter is not linearly temperature dependent. The thermocouple junctions are Ni/NiCr.
