864,202. Valves. VEREINIGTE ARMATUREN-G.m.b.H. Nov. 4, 1958 [Nov. 4, 1957], No. 35450/58. Class 135. The two-part valve easing 1 houses a streamlined insert 8 formed of interconnected members 9, 10 supported by spiders 11 on rings 12, which latter engage easing recesses 13 ; the rings 12 embody annular grooves and collars 15, 16 which coact with complementary ribs and grooves 17, 18, respectively, on the interior of a flexible sleeve 14. The exterior of the sleeve 14 is formed with an annular groove 19 at each end that accommodates ribs 20 on a shell 22 axially divided into two or more parts; the shell ends taper and abut corresponding surfaces 24 in the casing. The sleeve ends are strengthened by inserts e.g. annular wire coils, not shown, or metal rings 29 vulcanized thereto. The valve is closed by applying pressure fluid through a connection 26 to distend the sleeve into contact with the insert 8.
