[Also in Group X] The quantity of air flowing through a ventilating duct is regulated by providing a porous pad 6 of foam plastics, foam rubber or felt across the duct, the pad operating to be compressed by air pressure and so cause the pore openings of the pad to be constricted to restrict the passage of air therethrough. The pad may be supported on a perforate member 5 of wire gauze, wire netting or expanded metal having two plane surfaces arranged in gable fashion. The support may be of the same porous material or may be integral with the porous material.
