Abstract
863,796. Rotary meters. GEHRE, H. Aug. 2, 1957 [Aug. 6, 1956], No. 24506/57. Class 110 (2). A rotary meter, Fig. 1, comprises a rotor 1 which has radial blades 17 and drives a counter 21 through a worm-wheel 18. The fluid is fed to the rotor through a spiral passage 2 defined by inner and outer walls 2<SP>11</SP>, 21 respectively having guide blades, see Fig. 2 (not shown), the fluid being discharged through a like spiral passage 3. The meter may be provided with flaps or screws in order to regulate the flow resistance or a thin-walled movable cylinder may be inserted between the rotor and the members 2, 3 in order to regulate the flow therethrough. The rotor may comprise a disc 15 having blades 17 in which case the portion 16 is formed in two halves secured to the cover portions 6, 7, respectively. The passages 2, 3 may be semispherical, elliptical, parabolic or conical in cross-section, see Fig. 4 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 6, the fluid is fed through a spiral path defined by members 26, 28, 29 and is discharged through a like path defined by members 27, 30, 31 or else through a passage 32 constructed similar to the housing 3 of Figs. 1 or 4 in which case the rotor 1 is provided with a half-section 16 and blades 17.
