Abstract

916,382. Fluid flowmeters; anemometers. PARSONS & CO. Ltd., C. A. June 9, 1959 [May 27, 1958], No. 16861/58. Class 69 (1). [Also in Group XXVI] A vane fluid-flowmeter has a tubular body 1 in which two axially disposed, stationary members are spaced apart, the members 3a and 3b being shaped to provide in conjunction with the body 1 a convergent-divergent passage with a throat 5-6 in which a vaned rotor 2 is located between the members 3a and 3b with its vanes extending across the throat and with a portion through which light propagated from a source 7 in one member can pass intermittently as the wheel rotates to fall on a photo-electric detector 8 in the other. The light is transmitted through a small circular hole in the central web of the rotor 2. The members 3a and 3b are suspended in the body 1 on three equispaced radial struts (Fig. 2, not shown).
