Abstract

1,223,898. 898. Rotary fluid-flow meters. BADGER METER MFG. CO. July 10, 1968 [July 13, 1967; May 31, 1968], No.32862/68. Heading F1F. In a meter with a turbine rotor 66 lodged within a conduit 8 a peripheral wall or "shield section" 54 of a fixed housing prevents fluid e.g. water, acting upon one side of the rotor and has a plate 96 which is secured by a screw 100 such that it can be moved circumferentially to effect calibration of a register 24. A shaft 78 and an annular magnet 93 couple the rotor to the register. Saddle straps 14 fix the meter to the conduit, leakage being prevented by a ring 30. In a second embodiment, Fig. 7, the shield section 154 is secured to a circular body or "adapter" 122 by a tube 144, the adapter being partially rotated and fixed by screws 208 to place the shield section in the optimum position. The rotor 166 has a graphite bushing 232 engaging with a fixed spindle 160. Examples of water-compatible materials from which parts of the meter may be made are referred to.
