863,438. Adjustable seat backs. HALLAM, SLEIGH & CHESTON Ltd. Nov. 2, 1959 [Sept. 22, 1958; Jan. 30, 1959], Nos. 30152/58 and 3313/59. Class 52(2). A seat back frame 6 has lugs 9 pivoted at 11 onbrackets 5 carried by the seat frame 1 and is held in adjusted position by pivoted struts 17 connecting the back frame to nuts 16 on a screwthreaded transverse shaft 12 at the rear of the seat frame, the shaft being, operable by a crank 20 through gears 21, 22. The seat can be mounted on slide rails 3, 4 for use in a vehicle and compression or tension springs may be used to counterbalance the weight of the seat back.
