A piston member having a connecting-rod portion, a head portion and a universal mounting means for the rod comprises a ball-end member including first and second segmental spherical ball portions formed in diametrically opposite relation but with their spherical centres coinciding, the first ball portion being remote from the head portion and having a maximum diameter greater than the maximum diameter of the second ball portion. The subject-matter of this Specification is also to be found in Specification 861,876, of which Fig. 3 particularly illustrates the features of the present invention.
