Abstract

861,766. Lift trucks. OMIC Ltd., and STUART, S. D. May 15, 1959 [May 23, 1958], No. 16658/58. Class 78 (3). The lifting frame members 12 of a pallet truck are provided with self-aligning loadengaging plates 10, 11 which are movable towards one another by hydraulic jacks 21. The plates are universally pivoted at 18 to cranked links 14, 15 which are pivoted about vertical axes 1.6 to the frame members 12, and springs 25 are provided to urge the plates apart.. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) two return springs 25 are provided on each plate. In further modifications (not shown) members 12 are tilted inwardly towards each other so that the plates engage the load at a lower level, and the plates are spiked to facilitate handling bales of straw.
