861,096. Testing pressure gauges. BARNET INSTRUMENTS Ltd. June 24,1959 [April 15, 1958], No. 11985/58. Class 106 (2). Testing equipment for fluid-pressure gauges comprises a piston 4 mounted vertically in a cylinder 3 and carrying a weight pan 5, the pressure-gauge 12 to be tested being attached to a branch passage 10, and the gaseous fluid used for testing passing through a pressureregulator 17 and a control-valve 19 on its way to the cylinder 3. A needle valve 13 for venting the system to atmosphere is provided, and so is a pressure-gauge 9. By this means, pressuregauges can be tested under gaseous instead of hydraulic fluid. In use, fluid for testing, e.g. air, is admitted to the system through the regulator valve 17, which is set to suit the pressure range required, suitable weights are added to the pan 5, and the needle valve 19 opened further until the weights are lifted and the pan can be freely spun. The gauge is then calibrated, the pressure being varied as required. At the conclusion of a test, the valve 19 is closed and valve 13 opened to vent the system to the atmosphere. The device is mounted on a base-board which may form part of a carrying case, thus providing a portable self-contained unit.
