Abstract
861,068. Ventilating buildings. - FENTON, BYRN & CO. Ltd. March 25, 1959 [March 31, 1958], No. 10270/58. Class 137 A ventilating and air-conditioning system for a room in a building comprises an enclosure formed below the floor 13, 16 of the room, an air inlet 20 to one end of the enclosure through the - floor or from the outside atmosphere and an air outlet 21 into the room from the opposite end of the enclosure, a heat-exchanger 25<SP>1</SP> being located Within the enclosure together with means 24 for impelling air through the enclosure across the heat-exchanger. The enclosure may comprise the whole space immediately below the floor, the joists 14, 17 being perforated to allow airpassage. The enclosure is completed either by the uhderfloor 15, in a ground-floor room, or by the ceiling 18 of the lower room. The inlet 27 from the atmosphere is located in an outside wall, close to the inlet floor grille 20. A filter 30 may be provided adjacent to the inlets 20, 27. The heat-exchanger may comprise pipes 33 for circulating heating or cooling liquid and the circulation may be controlled by a room-thermostat 34.
