Abstract

664,740. Ventilating rooms. FOWLER, L. J., and WEATHERFOIL HEATING SYSTEMS, Ltd. July 20, 1950 [July 27, 1949], No. 19797/49. Class 137 Rooms in buildings are ventilated and provided with conditioned air from a duct 13 located at ceiling level and formed, e.g. by a false ceiling 11, air being drawn into the duct from the room through an opening 16 and if required from louvred openings 28 leading to a supply of fresh air, and then passed over hot-water pipes 22 and out into the room through an outlet 17, louvred openings 29 for supplying fresh air at each side of the outlet 17 being closed. The fans 21 are mounted in openings in a wall of a partition 19 which encloses the pipes 22 and the openings 17, 29, reversal of the fans 21 drawing air in at the opening 17, and at the openings 29 if open, hot air passing over the major part of the ceiling 11, which radiates its absorbed heat into the room, and heated air passing through the opening 16 into the room. The openings 16, 17 which are preferably arranged over windows may be concealed in cornices when these are provided.
