Abstract

859,984. Glazing. FINDLAY, G. K. July 29, 1959 [July 30, 1958], No. 24581/58. Class 20(3) A glass wall e.g. an entrance screen, comprises, mounted in a frame 8 two parallel sheets of glass 3, 4 and therebetween a heat insulation barrier formed by a parallel series of evacuated glass tubes 12 spaced from each other by deformable e.g. plastic strips 16 of dumb-bell crosssection 17, 18 so as to seal off the air space on one side of the tubes from the air space on the other. The ends of the tubes seat, cushioned e.g. by framed plastic in a plastic sealing strip 5 lining the frame 8 and which carries also a seating for the cushioned edges of the glass sheets. The strip 5 lining the lower end of the frame 8 is recessed to hold anticondensation crystals 11. Glazing beads 9 of aluminium project from the frame into the sealing strip 5. Each tube 12 may be coated with a reflecting material on its inner surface.
