Class 64(2) [Also in Group XXIX] A drain valve is secured to the wall 1 of a compressed air reservoir so that unwanted water passes through a strainer 4 into a chamber 7. When the reservoir pressure is high enough, a spring-loaded valve 15 with guiding lugs 16 is forced down to allow the water to flow through a hole 11 into a lower chamber 8. When the pressure drops, the valve 15 rises to close the hole 11 and, when it drops still further, e.g. when the compressed air supply to the reservoir is cut off, a light spring 22 raises an annular diaphragm 6 bearing both an annular plate 10 in which the hole 11 is formed and a housing 9, containing the valve 15 and a water-discharge valve 19. A spring 18 loads both the valves 15, 19 so that at the raised position of the diaphragm 6, the valve 15 is closed but the valve 19 is raised by the housing 9 to allow water to discharge from the lower chamber 8, to atmosphere through a strainer 23. Instead of the spring-loaded valve 19 there may be a discharge valve member secured to the housing 9.
