Abstract
859,809. Electric induction furnaces. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Nov. 9, 1959 [Nov. 11, 1958], No. 37853/59. Class 39(3). [Also in Group XII] The lead-through seal 1, Fig. 3, for the electrical and coolant leads in an electric high-frequency vacuum melting furnace is joined inseparably with the leads, and the connections to the leads are made outside the vacuum tank 11 at 21 so that when the furnace is removed the seal is pushed into the interior of the vacuum tank and removed with it. The seal comprises a rubber plate 1, Fig. 1, in which are fixed, e.g. by vulcanisation, hoses 3 containing the electrical leads 4 and providing for the circulation of cooling water. The plate 1 is fixed, e.g. by vulcanisation, to a water-cooled steel ring 6 which is inserted in a ring 7 welded to the vacuum tank 11. The vacuum tank comprises a movable part 10, Fig. 4, a fixed part 11 and a cover 12. The movable part supports toothed wheels 17 for engaging toothed segments 19 fixed to the furnace 13 in order to tilt the furnace about the shaft 14. An abutment 22 prevents tilting of the furnace when the movable part 10 of the tank is moved away.
