Abstract

A composition for use in making laminated articles (see Group VIII) comprises a mixture of a siloxane resin having a R/Si ratio of from 1,0 to 1,8 wherein R is e.g. a methyl, ethyl, vinyl, allyl or tolyl radical, and from 0,01 to 5% by weight of the siloxane of a complex of a metal carboxylate and an amine. The complex, which may be formed in situ, may be made from the reactants in molar proportions of amine to metal salt of from 1:1 to 6:1 Metal salts specified are Ca, Co, Ce, didymium (i.e. Nd + Pr), Mn and Zn 2-ethylhexoates, pelargonates, stearates, naphthenates, resinates linoleates and oleates; amines specified are butyl-, amyl-, octyl-, cyclohexyl-, diethyl-, triethyl-, ethanol-, diethanol-, N-(2-aminoethyl)- ethanol- and isopropanolamines and morpholine. The compositions are usually used as solutions in solvents e.g. toluene, xylene, acetone, methylethylketone, ethyl- and butyl acetates, methylene chloride, dichloro-ethane and dibutylether, with or without the addition of a little butanol or isopropanol. In the examples a complex of zinc octoate and triethanolamine is used.
