Abstract

1,194,465. Isocyanate amine adducts. DOW CHEMICAL CO. 29 July, 1968, No. 36078/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Adducts are prepared from substantially equivalent amounts of (I) an organic isocyanate of formula in which R is H, a C 1-8 alkyl or alkoxy radical or the radical -NHCOOR<SP>1</SP> in which R<SP>1</SP> is a C 1-8 alkyl radical, and (II) an ethylenepolyamine where n is an integer from 0 to 15. Examples relate to adducts of phenyl isocyanate with diethylenetriamine and triethylenetetramine. The adducts are prepared by slowly adding phenyl isocyanate to the polyamine which is maintained at 25-30‹ C. Excess polyamine is removed under reduced pressure.
