859,302. Frictional ignitors. RACEK, A., and RAGANITSCH, J. May 16, 1958 [May 18, 1957], No. 15837/58. Class 75(3). An igniting device comprises a friction wheel 5 driven by a rod 9, a bell crank lever 22 tending to move to a locking position wherein one arm 23 holds the rod 9 against movement, the second arm 21 of the lever 22 being engaged by a rocker lever 17 when this is operated, to cause the arm 23 to disengage the rod and a V-shaped spring 13, one end of which bears on the rocker lever 17 and the other engages the rod 9 to drive the rod into a second position and thereby rotate the friction wheel when the rod is released by the arm 23. Stops 10, 11, are provided on the rod 9 to engage one arm 16 of the rocker lever 17 and the arm 23 on the bell crank 22 respectively and one end of the V- shaped spring passes through a slot 12 in rod 9. The rocker lever 17 is operated by a trigger 2. The rocker lever 17 and bell crank lever 22 are returned to normal position by springs 26, 27. The device may be used as a gas lighter or may be combined with a fuel tank and wick having a cover linked to the driving rod.
