859,174. Thermal regenerators. PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. Sept. 24, 1957 [Sept. 27, 1956], No. 29953/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 64(1) In a thermal regenerator e.g. for a hotgas engine, gas refrigerator or heat pump, comprising superimposed sheets of material formed with substantially rectangular holes therein e.g. perforated sheet or wire gauze in which the wire is not more than 200 microns thick, the sheets extend at right angles to the flow of gas through the regenerator and each sheet is angularly displaced with respect to adjacent sheets such that the edges of corresponding holes in adjacent sheets subtend an angle of between 40 and 50 degrees.
