Abstract

PURPOSE:To allot proof against thermal distrotion and pressure distrotion to each membrane, by attaching a pressure distortion proof membrane to corrugation of a heat insulating material and a thermal distortion proof membrane to a flat pressure distortion proof membrane, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The inner pressure in a tank under working conditions fluctuates in accordance with the amount of liquid or gas stored there, and the pressure on each membrane 12 also changes according to the conditions. Since the membrane is attached to a heat insulating member 1 at the flat portion 13, the pressure change is not immediately transferred to the heat insulating member 1 to cause distortion. The pressure distortion tends to grow at a corrugated portion 2, but the external corrugation 12 is not directly distorted because the pressure is transferred from an anchor 3 to the heat insulating member 1 through the internal corrugation 4. As for the thermal distortion, the distortion on the thickness of membrane is determined very small compared with the level of permissible distortion.
