Abstract

859,024. Partitions. STEELBRAC Ltd. July 15, 1959 [July 15, 1958], No. 22721/58. Classes 20(4) and 87(1) A partition unit of adjustable height consists of a framed lower section including outwardly directed channel-section side members 1, 2 of metal, and an upper section comprising similar side members 8, 9 of smaller cross-section slidable within the upper parts of side members 1, 2 and connected at their upper ends by a cross-member 10. The lower side members 1, 2 are connected by upper and intermediate crossmembers 3, 5 and a sill member (not shown), the part below the member 5 being faced with steel panels 4 enclosing heat-insulating material. The opening 7 above the member 5 is filled with a metal or glass panel and the upper opening 12 is similarly filled after the upper and lower sections have been bolted together at the required height. For connecting adjacent units together, threaded bolts 13 are welded to the side members and each pair of aligned bolts is connected by a jointing member 14, Fig. 3, the bolts engaging in the slots 16 and being secured by nuts. Sheet steel pilasters cover the gaps between adjacent side members and are secured by spring clips on their inner sides. According to the Provisional Specification the bolts 13 are replaced by dowels and complementary holes on opposite side members.
