Abstract

858,823. Ammunition cartridge cases. PRESS & STANZWERK A.G. Sept. 2, 1958 [Sept. 3, 1957], No. 28096/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 9(1). An aluminium alloy cartridge case is first anodized to produce an oxide layer 15 to 20 Á thick and then lacquered with a synthetic resin such as ethyoxylene to a depth of 15 to 25 Á. The case may be made from an Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy. After anodizing, the case is dipped in a bath of lacquer, surplus lacquer then being removed first by allowing the case to drip then by centrifuging the case. The case is then baked at 160‹C. for say 20 minutes to fix the adhering lacquer, the dipping and baking being repeated until the required thickness is obtained.
