Abstract

858,704. Optical-projection apparatus. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 6, 1957 [June 6, 1956], No. 17411/56. Class 97(1) In an arrangement for effecting change over between two optical projectors, different colour light filters are respectively provided in the paths of light from said projectors and a dichroic mirror for reflecting one and transmitting the other of said colours is disposed in the paths of light from both of said projectors subsequently to said filters, the arrangement being such that the path of light from one of said projectors when reflected by said mirror is substantially coincident with the path of light from the other of said projectors when transmitted by said mirror, the arrangement also comprising means whereby light from each of said projectors can be prevented from reaching or allowed to reach an image-receiving surface for said projected light. The form shown comprises a projector 2 with a green filter 6, the output of which may be intercepted by a red-transmitting, green-reflecting dichroic mirror 11 and a projector 3 with a red filter 7, the output of which may be intercepted by a red-reflecting, green-transmitting dichroic mirror 10. The projector 1 has alternative filters 8 (red) and 9 (green). Both dichroic mirrors are removable. To permit change over between projectors 1 and 2 the filter 8 is inserted in projector 1 and the mirror 11 placed in position. The combined light beam is concentrated by a field lens 5 into a television camera 4. To permit change over between projectors 1 and 3 the filter 9 is inserted in projector 1 and the mirror 10 placed in position. To permit change over between projectors 2 and 3 both mirrors are placed in position. The devices for moving the filters 8 and 9 and the mirrors 10 and 11 may be coupled together. The actual change over in either case may be effected by dimmers acting on the lamps or neutral wedges or guillotine shutters acting on the light beams.
