Abstract

[Also in Division H4] In a simultaneous system colour television camera a real image Y<SP>1</SP> produced by the objective lens system OA (preferably a zoom lens) and collimated by the lens system T 1 is split into at least two component colours (three as shown) by the dichroic mirrors S 1 , S 2 , each component beam being directed through a separate optical system T 2 <SP>1</SP>, T 2 <SP>11</SP>, T 2 <SP>111</SP> comprising a pair of lenses, for example Vb, Hb, and a plane mirror, for example S 3 <SP>1</SP>, on to the photo-sensitive electrode of a camera tube, for example Rb. The optical systems T 2 <SP>1</SP>, T 2 <SP>11</SP>, T 2 <SP>111</SP> are identical and are enclosed in dust proof cases (Fig. 3 not shown), provision being made for axial movement of one or other of the lenses therein. A mirror S 4 allows the camera tube Rg to be positioned in a plane perpendicular to the plane containing the other camera tubes and the lens systems OA, T1. A system P for producing a test image is provided; this (Fig. 4 not shown) comprises a test transparency illuminated by a light source and an associated lens system. The rotatable mirror S 5 for positioning the image of the test transparency switches on the light source when moved in front of the objective system OA. Colour filters F and curvature correctors (Fig. 3 not shown) may be provided in front of the camera tubes. Other accessories may include a grey filter F<SP>1</SP> or a light flux regulator (not shown). An optical viewfinder may be provided by branching off part of the light flux, e.g. by a light dividing prism, at a point in the optical path between lens systems OA and T<SP>1</SP>, but not in the plane of image Y<SP>1</SP>.
