Abstract
1533798 Three colour system CANON KK 30 Sept 1976 [7 Oct 1975] 40665/76 Heading G2J [Also in Division H4] A colour television camera has an optical system including dichroic mirrors 3, 4 which separate the light from an object O into a number, e.g. 3, of different wavelength ranges for respective pick-up tubes 5. To compensate for colour shading that would otherwise occur a filter assembly 12, 13 precedes the first mirror 3 met by the light from the object. The assembly includes a member whose transmission factor varies across its width for light of one of the wavelength ranges in correspondence with the variation of intensity across a beam of light derived from a uniformly white object. For example, the member 12 is wedge-shaped and partly absorbs green light. The other member 13 of the assembly is also wedge shaped, so providing a parallel-sided assembly, and may be transparent or may be a neutral density filter to compensate for luminance shading. Alternatively, member 13 may absorb blue and red light and member 12 be transparent or neutral density. The pick-up tubes may also receive bias light from a source 9 via the mirrors. The bias light path includes a diffuser 10 and a filter assembly 14, 15 similar to assembly 12, 13. The dichroic mirrors may be formed on the faces of internally reflecting prisms.
