Abstract

Suspended solids are removed from a solution of a polymer in a hydrocarbon, by passing the suspension through a batch type precoat filter (e.g. a Vallez filter) and then through a cartridge type filter (e.g. a "Sparkler" (Registered Trade Mark) filter). The process is illustrated in connection with the removal of catalyst particles, e.g. of 0,3 to 100 microns, from polyolefin solutions obtained by polymerization of olefins in hydrocarbon diluents using chromium oxide type catalysts, e.g. as described in Specifications 790,195 and 804,641.
