Abstract
A high density olefin polymer such as is obtained using a chromium oxide type catalyst, e.g. as described in Specifications 790,195 and 804,641, is purified by filtration of a hydrocarbon solution of the polymer at a temperature between the upper and lower cloud points, i.e. at a temperature at which the polymer and solvent are in a homogeneous phase. The examples illustrate the filtration of solutions of polyethylene in trimethylpentane, cyclohexane and methylcyclohexane and it is said that the temperature used may be between 175 DEG and 375 DEG F.
