Abstract

Raw polyethylene stock produced by a Ziegler low-pressure polymerization process is fractionated according to particle size by mechanical means, thus producing fractions of substantially uniform particle size. The mechanical means include filtering or screening in a non-solvent liquid medium, screening in a dry state and centrifugal separation by means of an entraining current of inert gas. The fractions so obtained may be blended together in predetermined proportions, while the products may be moulded.
