[Also in Groups XV and XVI] A method of coating or facilitating severance of cotton wool or like cellulosic wadding comprises subjecting a web of wadding to compression over limited areas to consolidate it to a paper-like form, and then coating with gum, perforating and/or punching, on the compressed areas. The web may also be compressed at parts upon which forwarding mechanism operates. Webs having stripes of adhesive applied to compressed parts may be severed into sections which may be stuck together to form pads.
