Abstract

857,272. Magnetic recording &c. heads; supporting. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 27, 1959 [Aug. 29, 1958], No. 27737/58. Class 40 (2). A stack of heads 2 for scanning multiple tracks on a magnetic drum 1 is mounted on a member 20 pivotal about a weak link 22 by screw means 23 for alignment of the stack parallel to the drum axis, the head carrier being in turn mounted to a U-form member 5 with two split clamps 6 (and 7, not shown) for adjustment radially and longitudinally of a pillar 3 mounted parallel to the drum axis. To adjust the drum spacing, an arm 9 carries coarse screw means 18, engaging a parallel pillar 4 and fine screw means 19 acting in conjunction with a weak link 17. Pneumatic gauging means at each end of the stack 2 provides for both adjustments. A wedge and screw arrangement (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) facilitates accurate longitudinal adjustment.
