Abstract

857,057. Industrial lift trucks. YALE & TOWNE MANUFACTURING CO. April 9, 1959, No. 11986/59. Classes 79(3), 79(4) and 79(5). An industrial truck comprises the frame members 10, 11, 12 upon which is mounted a motor 19 driving the front wheels 21, an auxiliary motor 22 driving a pump 24 for operating the hydraulically controlled accessories and a fluid reservoir 25. The rear wheels 29 are carried upon an axle 27 rotatably mounted upon a trunnion 31 attached to the frame member 12 and are steerable about king pins 36, being connected together by a tie rod 37. The steering mechanism comprises a manually operated wheel 39, rotation of which is transmitted to the back wheels through a shaft 41, steering box 40, cardan shaft 44, a shaft mounted in a bearing sleeve 49 passing'through the frame member 10, and a pitman arm 50 connected by a drag link 50 to the tie rod 37.
