Abstract

Class 38(1) A coaxial or screened socket comprises a fixing saddle having a tubular part forming an outer contact or shield which is split longitudinally to provide a number of legs 4, 5 of arcuate cross-section, a cup-shape outer insulating moulding 8 fitting tightly about the tubular part and fitted at its closed outer end 9 with a central contact receiving spigot 10, and an inner insulating moulding 7 which is a tight push fit over the part 10 and which is formed with a flange 15 having one face engaged by the ends of the legs 4 which are fore-shortened and having its other face engaged by bent over portions 6 of the legs 5. The part 10 of the outer moulding 8 is formed with a bore 14 which is aligned with a bore 13 in the inner moulding 7 for receiving the inner pin of a coaxial plug, and a metal contact tag 11 extends outwardly through a slit in the moulding 8.
