Abstract
4-amino-isoxazolidone-(3) is prepared by treating a 2-alkoxycarbonyl-ethyleneimine with a strong acid (e.g. hydrochloric acid) in a solvent (which must be a poor solvent, e.g. water, in the case where the alkoxy group may be considered to have been derived from a primary alcohol), and reacting the resulting b -(strong acid anion-substituted)-a -aminocarboxylic acid ester, strong acid addition salt with hydroxylamine and a strong base in the presence of water. 2-Isopropoxycarbonyl-ethyleneinine is prepared by reacting a : b -dibromopropionic acid isopropyl ester with liquid ammonia in the presence of N-phenyl-a -naphthylamine as a stabilizer.
