Abstract

855,879. Conveyers. GREBE, K. April 23, 1957 [April 20, 1956], No. 12912/57. Class 104(2). A conveyer comprises conveyer belt sections 3 supported by rollers 7 moving in a supporting structure, consecutive pairs of rollers of each section being pivotally connected by rigid members, an endless chain 1 being detachably coupled to the conveyer belt sections and being supported and guided by pairs of guide rollers 6 secured at intervals to the chain. The rollers 6 and 7 may run on the same U-shaped guide rails 5 and 5<SP>1</SP>. The conveyer belt sections are pushed and/or pulled by guide roller units, each unit comprising two pairs of guide rollers and the drive is disengaged by inclining a guide rail, the rollers then move on separate rails and the conveyer belt sections may engage another endless chain to drive the conveyer belt sections along another rail. Guide rollers 8, 9 on the conveyer belt sections and chain roller units have flanges which engage the flange of a guide rail. The rollers 6 and 7 may move along superimposed rails and the conveyer belt sections may be detached from the driving chain units by increasing the distance between the tracks. The guide rails may be adjacent. The chain may be detachably connected to the middle of each conveyer belt section which may be manually braked without arresting the chain. The roller units may engage the belt sections frictionally as by means such as a spring-urged cranked lever pivoted on the units which engages the undersurface of the belt section and is automatically disengaged when an extension strikes a control rail positioned at end sprockets or switches. Each belt section may have a covering rubber belt or a rubber belt may cover several sections.
