Abstract

855,080. Grinding. SIELEMANN, H. Jan. 24, 1958, No. 2548/58. Addition to 803,143. Class 60. A grinding machine comprises an outer column 6 which carries grinding wheel heads movable independently of one another in a vertical direction and is manually or automatically indexable, to bring one of the wheels into an operative position, after being raised by a lifting device to disengage at least two cone clutches connecting it to an inner column, the outer column having a uniform polygonal section and a grinding wheel head mounted on each of the outer faces of the column. In the embodiment shown, the column has a triangular section, each face having a grinding head 8, 9, 10 used, respectively, tor internal cylindrical, external cylindrical and plane grinding. Hydraulic motors may be provided for the vertical movements of the heads and the lifting device for the outer column modified by having a fixed piston through which pass pipes carrying the pressure fluid controlling the movements of the grinding heads.
