Abstract

1355875 Work holders LIDKOPINGS MEKANISKA VERKSTADS AB 17 June 1971 [18 June 1970] 28550/71 Heading B3D A device, e.g. for holding a ballrace 29 or other ring-like member for grinding or polishing comprises two holding members 14, 40 for engagement with the workpiece 29 under fluid pressure, one of the members 40 being arranged to be driven, and a mandrel 24 for supporting the workpiece 29 by means of fluid pressure cushions. The members 14, 40 are freely supported by flanges 3, 32 pressurized fluid, e.g. water, coolant or air, being introduced through conduits 12, 13 and 39 to urge the members 14, 40 into engagement with the workpiece 29, while a further passage 28 feeds recesses 26, 27 defining the mandrel pressure cushions. A drive shaft 54 is connected to a part 50 screwed to the member 40 by a pin and slot connection 51, 52.
