Abstract
1,068,846. Chucks. ULVSUNDA VERKSTADER A.B. June 26, 1964 [June 27, 1963], No. 26510/64. Heading B3B. A machine tool comprises means for transferring a pressure medium between two relatively rotatable parts 10, 22, internal passages in one part extending on a surface of revolution for a limited distance to form a pressure chamber 32, and confronting co-operating passages 26 on the other part 22 spaced around a surface of revolution. The pressure is used to operate a chuck 14, 16, 18, 20, on to the lower part 14 of which is shrunk the ring 22. The chamber 32 is formed in the stationary support 10 and, at all times, communicates with at least one of the passages 26. A workpiece 64, which is to be ground internally, abuts a sealing disc 68 on an ejector 70 and is gripped by spaced jaws 40, 41 on a double diaphragm device 42. When compressed air is directed to a passage 34, it passes via passages 26, 36, 38, 48 and 56 to flex the diaphragms 44, 46 towards each other, thereby causing the jaws 40, 41 to be released from clamping engagement with the workpiece.
