Abstract

854,850. Lubricating. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 9, 1958 [July 12, 1957], No. 22173/57. Class 12 (3). In an arrangement for lubricating the working surfaces of two gear elements which mutually engage during their normal operation, an idling gear member is provided having a surface containing a solid lubricant profiled to contact consecutive portions of the working surface of at least one of the two gear elements when running. The solid lubricant may comprise at least one of the following substances : graphite, disulphides, selenides and tellurides of molybdenum, tungsten and titanium. The lubricator may be made by forming a paste of lubricant powder and resin binder solution, evaporating the solvent, disintegrating the solid material, and die-moulding the resulting powder under pressure.
