Abstract

805,176. Brushes for dynamo electric machines. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. May 30, 1956 [June 9, 1955], No. 16678/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 35. A high-altitude brush is lubricated by a thin layer containing finely divided molybdenum disulphide and/or similar lubricants, disposed across or near the leading edge of the brush. Alternative lubricants are disulphides, diselenides and ditellurides of molybdenum, tungsten, titanium and zirconium. The lubricant may be secured by a binder of phenolic or other resin which may be partly carbonized. The brush body may contain metal halides as described in Specification 601,378 and/or metal oxides and carbonates as described in U.S.A. Specifications 2,445,003 and 2,699,404.
