Abstract

854,402. Coating with metals. PILKING- TON BROS. Ltd., KAY, S. E., and CLAYTON, T. R. June 28. 1957 [June 1, 1956; June 27. 1957], Nos. 17075/56 and 20382/57. Class 82(2) [Also in Group XXIX] Metal is deposited upon a surface by feeding under pressure a metal depositing solution (i.e. a solution containing metal in ionic form from which metal can be precipitated by a reducing agent) to one of a pair of nozzles 3 and a reducing solution to the other of the pair of nozzles, said nozzles being disposed in a common plane and each causing solution fed thereto to be projected along the common plane to a meeting place, and feeding air under pressure to a nozzle 6 situated in the plane between the pair of nozzles, thus causing deposition of metal on a surface disposed at or beyond the meeting place. Nozzles 3, which are preferably atomizing, and nozzle 6, which preferably delivers a continuous jet, are mounted on brackets 2 by means of pivots 5, said brackets being slidabty and rotatably mounted on cylindrical member 1. Reference is made to the silvering of glass and the coppering of such silvered surfaces.
