Abstract

Ethylene is polymerized in the presence of a solvent and hydrogen, and using a catalyst derived from a crystalline compound of a Group IVa, Va or VIa metal, the metal having a valency lower than the maximum, and an organometallic compound of a Group II or III metal. Preferred catalysts are TiCl3 \sR AlEt3 or Et2AlCl.
