Abstract
853,372. Sewing machines. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 15, 1959 [Jan. 27, 1958], No. 1499/59. Class 112 In a sewing machine thread-tensioner, a circular tensioning disc 6 is symmetrical relative to a plane normal to its axis, has a thin central portion 22 with a central aperture 19 dimensioned relatively to the receiving arbor and to the thickners of the central portion to provide for movement of the disc freely endwise of the arbor and for wobbling of the disc thereon, a raised annular portion 20 upon each face of the disc arranged concentrically of the aperture, and a planar thread-engaging surface 21 on each annular portion. The disc is also provided outwardly of the annular portions with a peripheral portion 23 of reduced thickness to facilitate placing of a thread between two such juxtaposed discs. The discs are swaged from slugs, and the surfaces 21 are lapped by parallel grinding wheels.
