Abstract

A broad spectrum anthelmintic medicated feed composition in dosage unit form, comprises a thiadicarbocyanine of formula: <FORM:0851982/VI/1> wherein R is a lower alkyl group, e.g. ethyl, and X is a physiolically compatible anion, e.g. iodide, dispersed in a utilizable animal feedstuff. The thiadicarbocyamine may be associated with a physiologically compatible excipient which may be edible but may not be a normal dietary constituent, e.g. an ion-exchange resin, or with a normal dietary component, e.g. dried skim milk or meat scraps, corn or soybean oil meal, vanilla cookie crumbs or toasted corn flakes, prior to mixing with an animal feedstuff, e.g. supplement or grain ration.
