Abstract

851,432. Vehicle bodies. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. [Ford Motor Co.] April 8, 1959, No. 11831/59. Class 108(1). A front end unit for connecting to a body part comprises side frame members 16, 18, 19, 21 and 14, 17, 19, 22 secured to sheet-metal side aprons 24, 26 to form box section support members. A pair of box-section transverse members 27, 28 brace the forward part whilst a single upper member 31 is used at the rear. Secured to the side frame and apron members are laterally extending splash guards 33, 34. The unit is secured to the body proper by two upper support brackets 37 and two lower support brackets 56. Pockets 38, 39 house the front suspension units.
