850,481. Turntables. ENTWISTLE, J. Sept. 15, 1958 [Sept. 17, 1957], No. 29170/57. Class 104 (2). [Also in Group XXIV] An overload slip coupling comprises a driving pulley 19 engaged by a rope 23 secured by attachments 21, 26 at its ends to a driven frame 17, a jockey pulley 27 on a lever 28 pivoting about the axis of the driving drum being biased by a spring 30 to tension the rope. The direction of drive is clockwise of Fig. 1, so that transmission of torque tends to increase the frictional grip of the rope 23 upon the pulley 19. The square frame 17 is fast with a turntable 18 which may carry a motor vehicle, and is mounted rotatably by a bearing 16 upon a support 14 which may lie upon the floor. An electric motor 11 drives through a train of reduction gearing 12 (not further described) to a shaft 13 keyed to the driving pulley 19.
