Abstract

850,384. Meat press moulds. THIRODE & CIE. Jan. 22, 1957 [Jan. 24, 1956; March 21, 1956], No. 2282/57. Class 28(2), A mould 1 for cooking and shaping meat is provided with a non integral bottom 2 and a lid 3 having a peripheral projecting edge joint 4 of synthetic rubber &c. shaped with a nose 6 so that when the lid is pressed into the filled mould it locks against any rising pressure, but on cooling it can slide down by the vacuum underneath. Top pressure may be applied by a lever or by springs as in Fig. 5. The joint also allows air and gases but not liquid to escape during cooking. The joint 4 may be sandwiched between lid parts 3a, 3b as in Fig. 3 or may receive the edge of the lid in a slot as in Fig. 4, the lid having a hole 7 into which the rubber flows during vulcanising. The bottom of the mould 2 also may have a peripheral joint which however is retained by the flange 16. To remove the cooled meat.the mould is inverted and the bottom is pressed inwardly by a levered pressure device 22.
