Abstract

850,283. Electric clocks. OBERGFELL, R., and OBERGFELL, H., [trading as KIENIGER & OBERFELL]. Dec. 21, 1956 [Dec. 24, 1955; Aug. 4, 1956; Aug. 27, 1956], No. 39107/56. Class 139 In an electric timepiece the maintaining circuit of the pendulum or balance includes a pick-up coil 2, Fig. 1, a driving coil 3, a transistor 1 and a battery 4. To suppress oscillation of the circuit a resistor 5 is connected across the coil 3 or instead, a capacitor 6 may be connected between the base and the collector of the transistor. The magnet 10, Fig. 2, is carried by a curved member 9 of a stirrup 8 fixed to the pendulum 7. The coils 2, 3, the transistor 1 and the resistor 5 are inserted in suitable holes or recesses in a support 13 which has grooves for the connecting leads. The circuit elements may be held in their recesses by varnish and the support 13 may have an annular casing. The coils may be layer wound or lattice wound and one of the coils or the magnet may be movable to vary the instant of impulse. The coils may be wound one on the other, Fig. 5. If the coils are arranged at opposite sides of the pendulum, Fig. 4, each of the coils may be replaced by the double coil arrangement of Fig. 5 in common or separate transistor circuits.
